There are many parks in Bali which offer different attractions from wildfire to wonderful visions like butterflies. Yes, this island of Gods has the Bali Butterfly Park (Taman Kupu-Kupu).

Bali Butterfly Park claims to be the largest of its kind in Asia. Located 7kms north of the town of Tabanan, the area of Wanasari, Tabanan, Bali, this park exhibits a wide range of specimens including butterflies and insects. There, you can witness the life cycle of butterflies. Visitors have chance to watch the life of this beautiful creature starting from the caterpillar, chrysalis to turn into a butterfly. There are approximately 15 types of butterfly species, which generally come from Bali and all over Indonesia, including the most famous birdwing (Troides helena), Bali peacock (Papilio parathus) and the majestic paradise birdwing (Ornithoptera paradisea). They are not only beautiful but also educative. Visitors can have chance to study about the ecosystem, breeding and protection of butterflies in this park.  

Bali Buttefly Park or Taman Kupu Kupu was opened in 1993. It was after the International Butterfly Conference in Makassar, South Sulawesi in the same year. Indonesia has rich insect world. Therefore, the conference was held to promote it for the environmental awareness among of Indonesian people. But then, Bali Butterfly Park becomes one of top stopovers among of international visitors. If you are interested to view the fluttering butterflies, it is recommended to visit the park before 10:00 am when they are at their most active time, to siphon off fresh drew and nectar. Besides the chance to witness beautiful butterflies, you will be able to see other insects like spiders, scorpions and beetles. You may have no braveness to touch them, but it is always be good to capture their pictures. Impress your friends with the photos you take in this park. You can also buy some souvenirs from dried butteflies and insect specimens that have been set in glass frames.  

Bali is not only popular for its beaches. You can discover the perfect blend of environmental, spiritual and cultural attractions at once place. You have many places to visit and things to enjoy. When you travel to Tabanan, you can visit this park. It is close to other natural highlights of the Jatiluwih rice terraces, Air Panas hot springs and Mount Batukaru. Butterfly Park opens from 08:00 to 17:00. Remember to come earlier so you can witness the butterflies enjoying their busy time. There is also entrance fee. It is 50,000 IDR per adult. If you do not want to get lost, it is better to take a tour package.
